Hello everybody, ]Back

Here it is 2005!  Can you believe it has been five years since the “new millennium”, a little over three years since the horrendous 9-11, and soon to be five years since PLWP was launched?  It doesn’t seem possible!  Here’s another tid-bit for you.  PLWP’s ezine, VIRTUALITY, was first published in July 2001!  Now that truly doesn’t seem possible….but it is!  We are so excited about this issue because we have so many new members to share it with!

Carol McLeod

Carol McLeod and Peg Willocks co-edit the ezine and they are truly a dynamic duo.  The ezine is unique in the Parkinson’s community in that it is, if we may borrow a familiar quote, of the people, by the people and for the people.  Carol and Peg work long and hard to make sure people with Parkinson’s have yet another voice.  The e-zine also serves as a platform for the talented to share their art, poetry, photos, short stories, cooking abilities, etc. etc.  We are so glad to have it back.  In our opinion, nobody does it better than Carol and Peg do it. Please know that this e-zine is YOURS! The dynamic duo is always in need of more writers, interviewers, and photographers. Don’t be shy, they need everyone’s participation to make VIRTUALITY, or as we lovingly call it the “V”, a household word…yet another vehicle for public awareness.

As everyone knows, Spring is a very busy time in the Parkinson’s Community…from our Parkinson’s in the Park, Joan Snyder’s Gala, the Unity Walk in New York to the PAN Forum on  February 5…and we’re certain there’s much more.  People living with Parkinson’s are an active, persevering and dynamic bunch…so there’s never “too much going on”!

We hope you are warm and cozy inside, out of the cold.  It looks like the winter is going to be pretty tough, so “put another log on the fire!”  There’s plenty to keep you busy…here are a few suggestions:

  • Visit the PLWP Chatroom   ... They not only chat, they sing, play instruments…just plain ole “have fun”!

  • Hunt down those ever present “dust bunnies”! Or at least make the attempt!

  • Clean out that hall closet that has the “Danger, Falling Objects” sign on it from three years ago.

  • You know those things that grow faster than you want them to on the tips of your toes…you know, you can barely reach them  and you hate the too-often maintenance required.  Well, treat yourself to a pedicure!

  • Write a story for the “Virtuality”!

  • If you live north of the Mason Dixon Line, shovel your driveway daily!

  • Email that friend you’ve been meaning to for months!

  • If you’re having a bad day, think of something wonderful that happened in your life…maybe in your youth or childhood…and make lemonade out of those lemons!

Well, that is just a few “suggestions” from PollyAnna Bren and PollyAnna Nan!  We hope we made you smile.

Together we make a difference,

Bren and Nan
