A  FAIR SWOP

My name is Caroline and I live in the United Kingdom and was fortunate enough  to be invited to join PLWP and PWP last September.  I was diagnosed with  Parkinson's in 1995, after a long battle to persuade the medical team that "something" was amiss! The diagnosis was a heart stopper for all. The progress of PD has so far been slow and has not encroached too much on my life style. I am the eternal optimist and I have come to realize that  in life, something good ALWAYS comes out of an apparently downbeat happening.  For me this has been the re-discovery of a yen to compose poetry, something I stared in  Primary school, and I can actually remember the first few lines  of my "first baby".  This has been a revelation for me and a source of great comfort, and a FAIR SWOP  yes -  a fair swop!  If one hadn't happened, nor would the other.  Following are two of my poems;

LIFE

How do we show our love of life, that path uphill, twixt joy and strife?
A feather's grip upon warm air - a talon anchored - white edged - bare?

Our journey's aim, straight from the heart, our trait's portray, feelings impart,
Those footprints cloaked in time and mist, pursed lips, just aching to be kissed.

That offered hand, beyond compare, will leave behind a rose so rare,
Warm moments glow upon your life, soft voices murmer muted prayer.

Our fleeting moment, rainbow round the sky, glittering, twinkling in a man's eye,
Is but a mote's soft drifting path, to finally settle, no chance to defy.

Aye, we may question, start and end, but only think - how best to tend -
and nurture, tendrils twining through,
For they will time transcend!

THE WARMTH OF LOVE
The warmth of love, the glow of care,
A sweet caress to touch your hair,
A spreading blush, a lover's flush,
A pounding pulse, that certain stare.

A meeting set, a future date,
Anticipation, breath held - wait,
A ticking clock, that longed for knock,
At last his face, my arms embrace.

Oh how my heart doth stop and start,
That hidden tie when we're apart,
How strong the bond, can it outlast,
The future, present and the past?

The joy of giving, feel free living,
Limbs entwine oh breath divine,
Caressing mist, so often kissed,
Nobody elses - MINE!
