Interesting Item Number one !
"I am looking for a few good people-as many as possible, as a matter of fact."
FIRST ORDER OF BUSINESS;
I am looking for about 5-7 people to serve on the PUBLICITY & PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE. Right now, we are working to find a national publicity organization to take on PLWP as a pro-bono project to help us get our message out to the world. I have been in contact with the Ad Council in New York and they are deciding if they can help us. If they do, there is a large application to fill out and it will require the input from all of us. The other members of my team so far are Randi Probst aka Sunshine and JaneMartha Stengel. If you are a people-person or if you have any skills in this area-please contact: Joan E. Snyder at snyder201@home.com
SECOND ORDER OF BUSINESS:
Our PLWP shop, JITTERBUG, here in Chillicothe is off to a great start. I have yet to figure all the figures, but it looks as if we will have over $$439.00 to donate to PLWP after the dust settles. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those whose contributions made this possible: Joel Bell, Laura Dean, Holly Angus, Karen Holtz, Carol Post, Sandy Norris, Jim Newton, and Michael Koontz .
This also means that our inventory is getting very low so please consider donating something hand crafted or of saleable quality. All proceeds go to PLWP. Once again, please contact me at:
snyder201@home .com
THIRD ORDER OF BUSINESS:
On Sunday, January 13th, we here in the Chillicothe area are having our first meeting to plan our PD awareness weekend and fundraiser. We are planning very simple yet fun and worthwhile projects for sometime in June (NO HEAT!!). I would invite you all to think about coming as soon as we set a date. I will have all the details in time for the next issue of VIRTUALITY .
Interesting Item Number Two!
AMAZING HUMOR/AMAZING GRACE - A Book Review
By Peggy Willocks
A small boy rushed to where his other family members were watching television.“That was the preacher on the phone! Everybody put on your long faces; he's coming over!”
That’s not always the attitude about all ministers. This is especially not so with Dr. David R. Vaughn! David is a Methodist minister in Morristown, Tennessee over a large congregation membership of over 700. He does counseling, public speaking in his community, and is an active advocate for PD awareness and research funding. David is also a person living with Parkinson’s.
David is now an author of a hilariously written anthology of true stories of events occurring during his ministry. With a few glances at the contents page, you’ll tickle your ribs reading “Moving Day,” “The Cattle Rustler,”, “Preaching the Wrong Funeral,” and more!
Then you’ll have a chance to read about some more emotional and meaningful times of his life, as well as dealing with his Parkinson’s disease. You’ll enjoy “A Shepherd’s Staff,” “Mama, Jesus is at the Door,” or “Dealing With My Struggles With PD.” From cover to cover, you’ll smile, wipe a tear, and see David’s dedication of service to his Creator.
The book, Amazing Humor/Amazing Grace is a concise, must-have book written by one of own PLWP members, who in turn will donate some of his proceeds to his own community support groups, the online PLWP effort, and for Parkinson’s research.
For information on obtaining the book, visit “The Store” at the PLWP website: www.plwp.org
Oh, one more thing, David and I friends who met online and just so happened to be in close proximity of each other. And he and his wife, Brenda, and daughter, Christi, are one special family.
