Patti Hager's Golf Outing

If you're looking for a way to get your family and community involved in a fund raising effort for Parkinson’s and interested in having some fun along the way, have I got the perfect “Fun” raiser for you!

You may want to try holding a golf outing.  If you like golf, you will enjoy this and if you’re not a big golf fan you soon will be.  You’ll learn a lot putting the whole thingt together. For instance, I learned how much my family wanted to get involved in some way.  You'll stay busy and it gives you a way to direct your energy.  I think you may be glad you took it on afterwards because it can bring family and friends closer.

On September 22 of this year, friends, family and various members of the community came together at the Second Annual Parkinson’s Golf Outing of Northern Kentucky. It was a picture perfect day.  PLWP friends showed up to pitch in. The volunteers, a group of assorted people who did not all know one another, came together as a team to make the day successfull.  When the golfers arrived they were delighted to play on such a beautiful course. The drive down a lovely country road to get to the golf course was a bonus.

And me?  I was grateful for all the help my family provided, the enthusiasm of the volunteers, the support of friends, the generosity of the community and the smiles on the golfers faces.  I know they’ll be back next year.

On September 22 everyone was happy!

Editors comment; Patti's golf outing was attended by some of our PLWP's who live within driving distance or were in the area and could get there that day. I can't stress enough how wonderful it is to spend time with a group of people who understand the ups and downs that Parkinson's causes in our lives. They were there, and so were some of their family members and friends. Their presence gave a lift to all of us. New friendships were formed and old ones renewed that weekend.

If you're considering holding any kind of fundraising event, let us get the word out for you. You might have some PLWP's near you who would love to be there.
